Working for Disney was one of the best things I have ever done. I applied in the spring of my sophomore year because I was told, "You never get in on your first try." However, I was lucky enough to score a spot for fall 2022 and I knew I could not pass this amazing opportunity. I was placed in Animal Kingdom working on Kali River Rapids, a water attraction. The best part about this program was the range of skills you learn throughout your time. Not only is it about growth as a leader in the work place, but I was put in charge of thousands of people's safety everyday at work.
Being a part of the college program, I had to sell to guests the magic of Disney. Even though I worked on a ride, I still had to stay in character whenever I was on stage. People spend a great amount of money to come to Walt Disney World. That being said, I had to learn how to adapt to the pressure of what they expect of the employees of the company. I was a front-line worker for my entire program. My ride served up to 30,000 guests a day. Being on the front-line showcases a part of a company some would never know without diving in head first. I also honed in on my ability to make memorable connections in a short period of time. I was dedicated to generating the feeling of magic for guests at all times!
Overall, this experience changed my life. Not only did I meet amazing people from the United States, I gained friends from countries across the globe! I have been able to keep many of those connections alive and even gained a new best friend for life! Working for Disney allowed me to find out if living in Orlando is something I could see myself doing in the future. My biggest goal in life is to work for corporate and if that means moving, I may not be opposed!
I could not stay away from Orlando for too long, because in summer 2023 I completed an internship with Pepsico in... Orlando!
I participated in the Sales Management Internship on the FritoLay branch of the company. In this internship I was assigned a mentor, where she showed me the ropes of the company and how to manage a whole team for her district. I Shadowed the process of selling displays and gaining more space in grocery stores by using The Pepsico Way. The PepsiCo Way is all about acting with integrity and being a leader no matter what position you hold for the company.
I helped grow the Orlando Zone’s Precision Ordering percentage by 25% in Walmart, the biggest account the company is a part of. Precision Ordering is a service used by the front line to create orders for chips with the least amount of wasted product. This was my task for the whole summer, so I was very pleased with the results. The team of route sales representatives I got to work with were amazing people and open to my ideas of improvement. I also worked with the frontline stocking shelves and creating displays for special events like Fourth of July weekend and basic summer rollouts.
It was very rewarding working for FritoLay over the summer. Not only was the Orlando Zone filled with amazing people, I got to see what life would be like outside of the Disney bubble. I was able to stock shelves and see sales in grocery stores I went to on my Disney College Program, which was very full circle.
I am eager to continue my PepsiCo journey post graduation in Central New Jersey, as a full-time Sales Associate.
